Messner Mountain Museums
Come to discover six museums of the famous South Tyrolean mountain climber Reinhold Messner, opened in unusual locations in South Tyrol and in Belluno and all dedicated to the mountains and their culture.

Novacella Abbey
A highly appreciated attraction is the Novacella Abbey near Varna, famous for being one of Tyrol’s most ancient monasteries. Explore the Gothic cloister with its precious frescoes, the Abbey’s library decorated in Rococò style, and the painting gallery with works by Michael and Friedrich Pacher. The mill, the waterworks and the cellar are witness to the economic importance the Novacella Abbey once enjoyed. The Monastery is surrounded by the most northern vineyards of South Tyrolwhere celebrated white grape varieties such as Sylvaner, Müller Thurgau and Kerner are grown.
Palazzo Vescovile in Bressanone (Hofburg)
Up until 1793, the Hofburg of Bressanone was residence to the bishops of the Bressanone Diocese. Nowadays, the Hofburg can be visited by the public. In the Diocesan Museum visitors can admire a precious collection of sacred art works dating from the Middle Ages to modern times.
Christmas Cribs Museum
The Christmas Cribs Museum is hosted within the Diocesan Museum of the Hofburg in Bressanone. The display consists of Tyrolean and Italian Christmas cribs created over a period of centuries. The Cribs Museum, however, also hosts works that depict the entire story of the Redemption.
The artistic craftsmanship of Val Gardena
Wood carving in Val Gardena is a long-standing tradition. The sale of works of art has become the core business of many Val Gardena citizens. The permanent exhibition of artistic craftsmanship, “Art 52”, in Ortisei is open every day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers a general view of the range of Val di Garda craftsmanship.
